Master’s of Social Work
I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University with a minor in Psychology in 2022. I then received my Master of Social Work degree through the Advanced Standing Masters Program from Western Michigan University School of Social Work in 2023. As an undergraduate, I completed an internship with Healthy House Sober Living for Women in Kalamazoo, Michigan. During my internship, I helped women who were homeless for various reasons find jobs, strive toward recovery, readjust to living within society, find housing, learn coping skills, and any other barriers or difficulties they may have been faced with. During my MSW program, I interned with Integrated Services of Kalamazoo (ISK) where I conducted group therapy sessions designed for individuals with PTSD, substance use, and/or mental health diagnoses. The goal of most group therapy sessions at ISK is to enhance coping skills to better manage the symptoms bringing individuals into treatment. A secondary goal is to be a link to other programs that may be of benefit to the clients and to help them find a sense of belonging within their community.
My goal as a therapist is to empower you and provide a safe space for you to come as your authentic self without fear of judgement. Life is always changing, and each person is going to have their own battles to face that are unique to them. I believe not all therapeutic approaches will work the same for each person. Using a client centered approach allows me to meet you where you are and ensure the goals that we set to work toward together are those of your own. I utilize various techniques which may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Play Therapy. I commit to continuing to learn and work toward expanding my knowledge on different approaches to be able to best serve those who seek my support.
