Introduction:
I received my Master of Social Work degree from the Oakland University School of Social Work in 2023 where my focus of concentration was on substance use disorder and addiction . As an undergrad, I completed an internship with the Common Ground Crisis Center where we provided active listening and crisis de-escalation to callers on the Natioanl Suicide Hotline. During graduate school I interned with Easterseals Morc where I conducted individual and group therapy sessions for adults, struggling to manage a variety of mental health issues including SUD, addiction, and other major mental health issues. Since 2023 I have been working full-time as a clinical therapist for individuals, couples and families.
Approach:
My approach is client-centered and solution-focused and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. CBT is based on the core principles that psychological problems are based, in part, on faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking and learned patterns of unhelpful behavior, and that people can learn better ways of coping with them, thereby relieving their symptoms and becoming more effective in their lives.
