Introduction:

I received my Master of Social Work degree from the Wayne State University School of Social Work in 2016 where my focus of concentration was on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. During my undergraduate program, I completed an internship with East China School district as a school social worker where I assisted in completing IEP plans, 504 plans, and working with children and their families making sure students were provided with the correct tools to be as successful as they could in a school setting. For my graduate program internship, I worked at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center as a substance abuse counselor where I conducted intakes and group therapy sessions for mothers with children and pregnant women, providing tools, resources, and education on managing being a mother in recovery. Since graduating I have been working in the mental health field, with experience in inpatient psychiatric services, case management, and individual therapeutic services. I have a history working with individuals with cognitive impairments, intellectual impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. For the last four years, my concentration has been working with individuals of many ages manage a variety of mental health issues as well as behavioral concerns.

Approach:

My main approach in psychodynamic therapy is client-centered and solution focused which utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that can be effective for a range of mental and physical health problems. Using CBT, people can change the unhelpful ways they think, learn patterns of unhelpful behavior, and learn better ways of coping with psychological problems people may face, relieving their symptoms and becoming more effective in their lives. The priority is meeting the individual with where they are at as well as focusing on what they would like to achieve.
