Introduction:

I received my Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University School of Social Work in 2023 where my focus was child welfare, school social work & family systems therapy. Throughout undergrad and graduate school, I interned with national and regional HIV initiatives. During my MSW, I worked with Common Ground on the Crisis Intervention & Stabilization unit in Pontiac, MI working with adults in psychiatric or substance abuse emergencies. Through my HIV work I did testing, counseling and referral in adult residential substance abuse facilities. I also completed a master’s level special education school social work internship with Detroit Public Schools Community District. I have worked as an outpatient child therapist in Detroit with the Children’s Center and a children’s crisis therapist with New Oakland Family Centers since I completed graduated school.

Approach:

I am always client-centered, and trauma informed when working with clients. I have family systems and somatic therapy techniques that I integrate with empowerment practices to help navigate anxiety, trauma & grief by addressing the entire picture – past & present – to increase self-awareness, efficacy and confidence. I have done advanced training in culturally informed approaches to grief. I am also pursuing advanced credentialing in Art Therapy & Trauma to address chronic and complex trauma through different methodologies.
