Individual Therapy FAQ

How long does individual therapy last?

Therapy length varies depending on the specific patient’s circumstances. Some patients benefit from short-term therapy, while others engage in longer-term care.

How do I know if individual therapy is best for me?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or struggling with thoughts or behaviors that impact your daily life, individual therapy is a great place to start the healing journey. You don’t need to wait for crisis to benefit from therapy.

How often will I attend therapy sessions?

Our therapists recommend beginning with weekly sessions, however it is ultimately at the patient’s discretion. Over time, sessions may become less frequent (bi-weekly or monthly) if goals are being met and coping skills strengthen.

Can therapy help even if I've tried it before and it didn't work?

Absolutely. A different therapist, approach, or timing and circumstances in your life can make a meaningful difference in your therapy experiences.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We work with most major insurance plans and also offer self-pay options.

What happens in the first therapy session?

Your first session focuses mainly on getting to know you, your mental health concerns, history, and specific goals. Your therapist will explain how therapy works and collaborate with you on next steps throughout the process.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, it is. KindMind takes patient confidentiality very seriously. You can always expect therapy to be confidential, with limited exceptions required by law (such as safety concerns). Your therapist will review confidentiality in great detail with you during the first session.
